How it works

Fearless Dentistry is an accessible first port of call for adults whose dental fear makes getting care difficult. You can use it before contacting a dentist, while you prepare for an appointment, or alongside professional care you are already receiving. It does not register you as a patient of Warwickshire Dental Sedation Centre, and it works with any dentist.

It is built around evidence-based cognitive behavioural principles for dental anxiety: understanding the fear, testing predictions, and regaining control. It does not diagnose you and it does not replace dental or psychological care.

  1. Stage 1

    A short set of questions

About ten minutes. We ask what is difficult, what your body does, what helps, and what you want to be able to do. We never ask who you are.

  2. Stage 2

    A calm summary

You see up to three themes in plain English — no scores, no labels, no diagnosis. You can correct them if they are wrong.

  3. Stage 3

    Short modules

Four foundation modules for everyone, plus up to three pathway modules chosen from your answers. Small on purpose.

  4. Stage 4

    Steps you choose

You pick voluntary challenges, predict what will happen, then record what actually happened and what you learned. Nothing invasive, and nothing on your own that belongs with a professional.

  5. Stage 5

    A plan for your dentist

An editable document titled "How to help me with dental treatment". You can print it, download it or share it from your device — anonymously if you prefer.

Created for everyone

Created by Warwickshire Dental Sedation Centre. Free for everyone.

You can use Fearless Dentistry with any dentist. This resource is not limited to patients of Warwickshire Dental Sedation Centre, and using it does not register you as a patient.

Everything online — the assessment, the modules and your dentist plan — is free of charge. The separate in-person Fearless Patient Course in Warwickshire costs £395, which includes a place for one family member or support friend to attend with you.

What we never do

No accounts, no mailing lists, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no marketing consent. We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, email, date of birth or which practice you attend.

Urgent problems come first

If you have dental pain, swelling, an injury, bleeding or feel unwell, seek timely dental advice now. Do not wait until you have completed Fearless Dentistry before seeking dental advice. You can use the programme alongside receiving the care you need.
